Who is the National League MVP?

this is the question on espn.com today, just wanted to get the more important vote of the slackers!

Beltran, Howard, and Pujols have combined for 1 HR, 3 Ks, a couple RBI, and a batting average of .100 against Burt. You can't ignore the numbers.

i say pujols cause without him the cards would have a losing record and he is among the league leaders in HR, RBI, and Runs again and he missed 15 games

After the Phillies big deadline trades and Howards productivity since...

I say Ryan Howard.

He hits any ball to any part of the park.
Destroys any pitcher and is carrying the phills (maybe to the playoff's)

And the winner is............

Huge season, but...

He didn't get his team into the playoffs, which is why, in my opinion, Pujols should be the NL MVP.

I kind of agree... Getting your team into the playoffs is a big plus, the award isn't "Best Player on good Team"


I really agree that Pujols is the F'n MAN. Best hitter in the game, hands down!

Without Pujols the Cardinals don't make the playoffs, let alone with the World Series.

That's what an MVP is all about. Who is more valuable to their team?

Tim, you agree with me on this one? My thinking is the best player on the champs is pretty deserving.

Pujols did have slightly better AVG/SLG but he also had J. Edmonds, S. Rolen, D. Eckstein and a bonafide ace in C. Carpenter...

Howard had MUCH less production around him especialy toward the end of the season. The The phillies had more regular season wins, but they were behind the Mets thus didn't make the playoffs.

Pujols was on a tear before he got hurt, and still put up incredible numbers. And Edmonds, Rolen and Eckstein were all off their career numbers.

I'm not saying Howard didn't have a great year. Especially for a young guy. Sky is the limit for the big fella, as long as he stays healthy and Philly commits to putting talent around him.

I just dont think postseason should acount for MVP voting. The royals could have had someone put up huge #'s and been in the chase for the award. Not the players fault their club doesn't spend money....

well it's not like pujols isn't going to win more MVPs in his career, so it's not all that big of a deal. he did carry the team when edmonds, rolen, and eckstein all were injured/sucked, and his average with RISP, which to me is huge, shit on howard's.

but hey i'm sure he'd rather have the WS title than another MVP.

I'm glad Pujols at least got his ring, just in case, you know? I hate it when guys put up huge numbers and are great team players and never get a ring. Now on the other hand, the fact that Bonds probably won't ever get one, that doesn't bother me at all.

Well, maybe. I don't see teams lining up to sign him. I don't think he goes back to an NL team where he has to play left field, because he basically sucks out there now. So that leaves AL teams who need a DH, and while there are a lot of them out there, I am not sure how many are going to want to deal with the headaches that Bonds will bring. On the other hand though, the increase in revenue would probably be substantial, but you risk turning off your fan base to chase the almighty dollar.
