PlayStation Nintendo

Alright, I need to know what other people think is going to happen.

I think that when the PS3 comes out there might be maybe one thing wrong with it at most but when a system comes out for the very first time there always are bugs regardless how big or small. I just don't understand whats going on with nintendo, do you guys remember Sega and all of the little systems and etc that can out around that time period. Now, you don't hear anything about any of that, it basically dropped of the face of the planet and I think thats what slowly is happening to Nintendo.

I think its been happening to Nintendo ever since the Cube came out and personally I think thats very sad, I used to be on Nintendo's side intill the Cube came.

nintendo is making the wii or something

ps3 will kick major butt

you dont hear much about nintendo cuz they refuse to make the more "violent" (whatever that means) games.......... sony and microsoft are kicking nintendos ass cuz they have games like grand theft auto............ nintendo is marketed to a limited audience that is made up of people that dont have money and must rely on their parents to buy it for them

i have no doubt that nintendo owns the market for kids under 13 they arent struggling they just dont market to you anymore

i still have an origional NES and still play Mike Tysons Punchout drink.gif

Yeah, that has a hell of a lot to do with it but I also think the production of all around good games have gone way down. I mean the only good game that I heard people talking about for the Cube is Smash Bros Melee.

Another thing that I like about play station and dislike about nintendo is that play station, over the years of making new systems, have kept their controller the same. Nintendo has changed theirs with every new system that has came out.

i think the biggest downfall of the PS3 will be the price

i am not really into video games (i did rig my xbox to play super nintendo games because mario kart is the shit), but it seems like there's been plenty of hype on the net for Nintendo Wii, and it's supposed to be cheap compared to the others. PS3 does have that really creepy commercial with the doll goin for it.

as long as they keep making zelda and metroid, i will stay loyal.

And Goldeneye 007 is still the best game ever created.

Nintendo screwed up years ago. Nintendo, Sony, and SGI were collaberating to release the "Ultra64." Sony wanted bad to use a cd medium for the games, but Nintendo had a hard-on for cartridges, so they split. Sony went on to make the playstation, and Nintendo's Ultra64 was released much later (and sucked {with the exception of 007 goldeneye which is the best FPS ever, IMO}) as the Nintendo64.

Nintendo is stuck in the past, when the target age was 6-13. Now gamers are much older, and want cooler shit, and Nintendo just can't keep up with the times.

Agreed. Goldeneye is the shit. On another note, I hear PS3 is gonna cost like $600. That's fucking bullshit. How do they expect me to afford that?
Posted: Nov 8 2006, 02:43 PM
$600 for a PS3 with a 60 GB hard drive and WiFi technology
$500 for a PS3 with a 20 GB hard drive.
(From Sony's website)
Yeah, it seems like a lot until you think about the fact that it also plays Blu-ray discs, and that stand-alone Blu-Ray players retail for $1000-$2000. It really is a deal for everything that you get.

but that aside, it is pricey, and I probably won't buy one until Holiday '07 when the price will likely be around $300. I have better things to spend my money on. Plus, if you wait you will know what games will be good, will get better quality games because coders and designers will know more about the PS3's capabilities, and also any bugs from the first run will be worked out.

Zelda, Metroid and Golden Eye are legendary games and I'll always stay loyal but what happeneds when Nintendo can't afford to come out with a new system because there shit thats coming out now sucks so damn bad.

The price for the PS3 is a load of bullshit but its still going to sell like no other because there are so many expectations for it to climb up to. I like PS2 a lot and I'm not going to need a PS3 for a long time, PS2 has got games that last really long, in other words, very high replay value.

I don't know, for all I know, the nintendo could do the best, but its hard to believe that now.

Don't you remember when the 3DO came out over ten years ago as the first 32-bit game console, and sold for over $700?

The PS3, while expensive, is a deal for $500

why i dont buy systems (except nintendo) when it launches.

ps3.
Posted: Nov 14 2006, 02:07 PM
Yeah I am pretty much going to wait about a year to buy it so that they can fix all the bugs.
Posted: Nov 14 2006, 03:39 PM
+1

Cheaper, fixed bugs, often times more options included, and also the game prices come down, and you know what's good and what's not
Posted: Nov 14 2006, 10:32 PM
I don't know anymore, there are always people wanting instant results after buying the systems. People like us say not to buy the system when it first comes out whice is good advice but we have no room to bark at the people who do buy it right away. They are the reason why the bugs get fixed, although there are some things the people call bugs that aren't really bugs at all to begin with.

I know that this topic is about PlayStation and Nintendo but I think we can all take a step back hear and remember the recall with the 360. I think that was some shit, they said that after just 18 hours of play time the system over heated. Well, maybe thats why you don't play it for 18 hours straight.

They also only were able to release 1/2 of the units they promised at launch.

Here is an interesting article on some of the problems with the JPN PS3 launch so far.

Hopefully things go better here in the States as far as hardware allotments go. After the 360 launch, I'm wary of new console launches. Sometimes patience is a virtue, I think this might be one of those times.

In reference to the 3D0 comment above. I bought one of those at launch (and I own every Neo Geo system made), but that isn't a compareable situation. The 3D0 was a niche console, as was the Neo, the PS3 isn't. Expecting the general public/casual gamer sect to pay in excess of $600 for a new console w/ maybe one or two games is a bit of a risk, even for a company like Sony.

I really hope people see the folly in bidding ebayed consoles up into the thousands this season...but I doubt it s-suicide.gif

They have people standing in line to buy the PS3, just so they can sell it on ebay. First off, I don't think that its worth it and I don't know about you guys but I sure as hell wouldfn't drop 800 dollars just to get a fucked up system earley and still not have any games for it.
