ps3

Been out a while.. Do you own one?

Just wondering because it's been awhile but I'm thinking of buying a new system.. Ps3 supports Blu-ray but I heard the whole system isn't worthwhile.. And do any of you guys have the $700 backwards compatible with the bigger hard-drive? I'm thinking of waiting until some better games are released for it, but should I even take a chance on one at all? Or should I just go for the cheaper Xbox 360..

I got tired of buying consoles only to have them be obsolete shortly after, after the original Xbox...I'll stick with my online FPS's lol...

Haven't heard anything about the PS3, but I played GoW on a friends 360, must say tis pretty sweet...If it wasn't for FF I don't think Sony would have a market lol tongue.gif

why should I get a ps3 when I already have a computer

My friend has one, and it is friggin sweet. And $600. I'll wait for a price drop. I still think the PS2 is chugging along just fine. And PS3 wipes the floor with the 360. With the exception of online gaming.

Yeah man I was deep into online FPS's on my PC.. I can safely say that it's been awhile since I was exclusively into console gaming.. I'm thinking of getting one more for the options it contains rather than just the games, but with GoW for the 360, that game is enough to buy a 360 alone..

I've reviewed all the Wii options and even played it.. Personally I think it sucks and is too gimmicky.. The controller doesn't indicate skill in gaming whatsoever.. Just uncoordinated reflexes..

Okay, so I went out and bought a PS3 to go with my new hi-def tv. I can not say enough about this system. The only complaint I have with it is that the controllers don't vibrate. The graphics (in1080) put the 360 to shame, the six-axis wireless controllers add a whole new dimension to the game. Now you can move your controller in certain directions to get results. @ $600, it's a little pricey, but if you can afford it, buy one. You will need no other game system.

I have only played Call of Duty 3, Resistance Fall of Man, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Madden 07.

I bought Call of Duty 3 because I need a good FPS, and it is displayed in 1080i. The graphics are awesome. The storyline is...history. I have never seen smoke look so real. Gameplay is tight, finally your troops have decent AI. They don't just stand in front of you and get in your way, and they actually go out and kill people. Also enemy AI is better. Instead of popping their head up in the same spot over and over, if you take a shot at one, he will find cover and come at you from a different direction. The Six-axis controller lets you control various elements in the game without pressing buttons. You can hold the controller like a steering wheel and turn it left and right to drive jeeps in the game. Also for close-in-combat you can shake the controller to fight hand to hand. Very cool game. I have yet to play it online, more to come.

Resistance: Fall of Man is a decent FPS. I would suggest renting it before you buy it. The graphics are good, but only displayed in 720p. Character design is good, with some refreshingly new enemies. The storyline is well written, and plenty of backround is given. The action is good, and there is plenty of it. There is also plenty of ammo. The weapons are futuristic, with cool alt. fire modes. Different weapons have different effects on enemies. In my mind, it's a fun game to play, but level design leaves much to be desired. It sometimes seems as if there is no goal. Just get on this elevator and go from floor to floor killing things. Then leave the building. It does have a 2-player co-op mode and vs. mode.

Tony Hawk's Project 8: Cool game. Enough good additions to keep the game new and fresh, but retains most of the gameplay elements of previous installments to keep the classic THPS feel. One new addition that is cool is the "nail the trick" option. You have to use your controller and the analog joysticks to manipulate your feet on the board, so instead of just pushing square to do a kicktrick, you have to hit the board in the right manner and right direction to "nail the trick." This game has good replay value, so it's worth a purchase.

Madden '07: Hated it. Good graphics, but gameplay was miserable. The formation menus are way too deep and hard to manipulate. They made the hotroute/audible system painfully hard to use. You have just about enough time to put one rec. on a hot route, or call one audible before the playclock expires. Defense is worse. Ever play there is a cut-scene of the camera floating over the line of scrimmage, and you do not get to control anything. By the time you can adjust your defense, the QB has hiked the ball. Horrible game. I hope they improve it much for '08. Oh, and "X" is sprint. Not "R2." Don't fix what aint broke.
