iPod Question

I am buying a new desktop and want to transfer my songs on my iPod to my new desktop, but I can't figure out how to do it. I've looked online, but I don't really trust some of the downloads. Anyone done this before?

From what I've heard, it can't be done...

That's why I hate iPods...

if the songs are on yer computer already, you can simply move them to the new computer as if it were any other file. I'm not too sure, but I think that the songs bought from itunes can be accessed as long as you have internet access.

Or, you could enable disk use of the ipod, then make hidden folders visible in the folder options menu, then you can cut and paste the files directly from the ipod. The only thing that sucks about this is that the files are separated into a buncha random folders with random filenames, but you could ask itunes to organize yer files for you to remedy that.

I couldn't get any of those programs to work...so I just downloaded each song onto my 4GB flashdrive and transferred them to the new computer

Eh...that works too.

For future reference.

You have to first enable your ipod to be used for storage.

After that you can enable your ipod to show hidden files.

Copy and paste everything off your ipod to your desktop. You will get a bunch of weird named files.

Next go to itunes, tell it to search for music AND rename what it finds. It will find the files you pulled off your ipod and rename them all their proper names. Assuming their id3 tags were right.
