So I think I'll be heading to New Orleans for a bachelor party relatively soon. It'll be my first time there. Anyone been there post Katrina? Is the French Quarter pretty much normal again? Also, I hear 18 year olds are allowed into bars....wtf is that about? I also hear there are no open container laws which is sweet. Any kind of "insight" into the bar/gambling scene would be cool.

I went for my first time a few months ago. French Q. was insane! Burbon st never stops... Get your self a couple "Big ass beers to go" they're about 3 bucks walk down the street and go in to any of the bars and you won't be disapointed. Watch out for the girls that run around inside the bars that sell the shots from test tubes. Whatta scam. you do one, then they (the cute girls) jump in your lap and tell you to give them one. after that they charge you... for their shots as well. shooter girls do that everywhere not just new orleans
and most of the time they are weaker shots too
