just thought i would get this going. hopefully football season will bring some of you assholes back to talk. so whats everyone think. and tec, saw something on espn, they had fans vote for who was the franchise player in the history of their team, guess who the fans voted for the ravens?
Baltimore Ravens: Franchise player

Matt Stover has been the Ravens' kicker all 12 years they've been in the league.
Readers' pick: Matt Stover, K
Come on Baltimore Ravens fans.
You're kidding, right?
Linebacker Ray Lewis or offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden are not the greatest players in Baltimore's franchise history?
And kicker Matt Stover is?
Usually, the AFC North version of the Blog Network applauds creativity. We try things outside of the box all the time in this space, and everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions. We're family here.
But this is just silly, Baltimore fans. Let's call a spade a spade.
The Ravens have only been in existence a dozen years. Other fans had to vote on players with more than 40-50 years of team history throughout several different eras.
Was it that hard to get this particular voting process correct?
Ravens fans couldn't go wrong with either Lewis or Ogden -- two first-ballot Hall of Famers -- as the franchise's greatest player. That would be a tremendous debate.
But the choice of Stover was simply wide left. Far left.

I saw that Burt. I NEVER post in those "talk" sections on sites like that, but this one I had to. Someone said something about Ray Lewis was only good cause he had a great Front 4 in playing in front of him. That is so wrong. He had a good front 4, no one great. Tony Siragusa was the best one, see how "great" they were? I went on, I could go on. But really you probably don't care. Whoever voted for Stover, were not Ravens' fans. Not a single Raven fan would seriously tell you that Stover (God-boy) is the face of the franchise over Ray Ray. Unfortunately, they allow people from all over the country/world to vote for any teams player. Honestly. Stover? Would anyone believe that us Ravens' fans would actually think that? If so, that is someone who's never been to Baltimore and who's never met a real Raven's fan.
*end summerized rant*

Michael Irvin should have own it for Dallas. Without his coke and meth connections, the Boys wouldn't have won any Super Bowls in the 90's.

Irvins coke connection was Lawrence Taylor and he only had the connection so he could score blow for his hookers.

i side with brett on this one. well he should have done this a little more discrete. but anyway, can anyone honestly say the green bay packers have a better shot at winning the super bowl this year with aaron rogers than brett favre? i'm not talking about five years from now, i'm talking about now. the packers from what we saw last year have a super bowl ready team in a weak division and a weak confernce in general. in my opinion you have to try to win now, you don't know what you are going to have next year or the year after or in five years. i just don't see how they didn't bring him back to try and win now.

Brett sucks for putting the team in that situation they need to find out if Rodgers can hack it as a starter in the NFL and they need to know this season. If Brett is the starting QB in GB they dont know where their future is heading. Rodgers contract is up at the end of the season and the Packers just like the Cowboys did with Romo will wait to sign him. If Rodgers sucks they know to look for a new QB at the end of the season.

I think Green Bay did the right thing to release him. He's been trying to retire for how many years now? You can't put your teams faith in a guy who doesn't know if he really wants to play anymore, plus he's old. Even the best QB's go bad with age, see: Johnny Unitas. The pack has to move on. They have a young team that can develop with a new QB. If Rodgers sucks, then so be it, there will always be another star QB in the making somewhere.
But good for Farve too. He still has another good year in him, and the Jets could use a proven QB. Pennington wasn't going to get it done for them.
But I also think Farve could have done this behind closed doors, like Burt said. It didn't need to be the business of the entire nation.
Speaking of QB's, you know who needs one? The Ravens. Just like every single year the Ravens have been in existence. We've got good WR's, a great TE in Heap, a stud RB in McGahee and our defense, like always is threatening. Still no QB. But we won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer, so maybe that's not the real problem for the Ravens. Just as long as they can win in their division, which should be a tight one with all 4 teams being decent with potential of greatness.

We've just went through the Steve McNair project. For some reason, I think they want to give Boller another shot at turning around his career. I couldn't stand that they let go of Derek Anderson. He was 3rd behind Boller as a rookie. They never gave him a chance, except for practice, where he looked like a pro-bowler. So they let him go and he's starting for the Browns. Go figure. We (the Ravens) have yet to figure out the QB puzzle yet. Are there any Manning brothers left still playing in college?

No Mannings left Eli was the youngest but theres a lot of QBs gonna be in the upcomming draft and Not many teams looking for a young QB so ravens should be fine drafting one in the 2nd round. I dont see how Gruden will possibly keep Chris Simms around after all the shit between the 2 of them so they could even look in that direction Simms is still better than Boller Smith and Flacco.

I was born and raised a Pat's fan but just can't bring myself to care at all about them this year. Maybe that will change when Belichek leaves. I'm thinking about maybe following the Browns this year but thir games will never be on TV.

You know nothing about football and obviously have no idea what Simms is capable of we all know Boller can throw a ball from his knee 60yds big deal he cant hit a reciever 15yds down field. Smith is nothing more than a good college QB that happened to play on a good team and win the Heisman lots of Heisman QBs have sucked in the NFL and he hasnt proved shit to me yet. Flacco is a model of a prototype QB IF he ever adapts to the NFL game and proves himself I will say otherwise untill then he is just hype.
Chris Simms has never had a fair shot with Gruden. While playing behing one of the most horrendous offensive lines in the NFL the guy almost killed himself for the team. Gruden was passing over 40 times per game with a defensive team(defensive team need to controll clock on offense by running the ball). Then while trying to make a comeback from a life threatening injury he is given shit by his coach saying shit like hes not going at it 100% that hes dogging it. Before the injury in 2006 he was completeing 61% of his passes even though he had 6ints they were all on tipped balls

Belichek admitting to taping the Rams before the Super Bowl game just opened the flood gates of doubt in the minds of football fans. What could have been one of the greatest dynasties ever in the NFL now is tainted like the HR record in baseball with the shroud of doubt (and the question of really, "what is cheating") that surrounds it.
Just the way Belichek handed the whole situation leaves me wondering. He answered the question of did he videotape (after changing his story) but didn't tell the "whole" truth. If the upstart Patroits (who's this Tom Brady? What happened to Bledsoe?) lose to the Rams (a pretty good team on turf in '01-02) then they become just another Patriots team that lost to the Super Bowl Shuffle in '86 or Farve in '97. But with a win, they are able to sign (and control) hothead-Corey Dillon, re-sign the important players and go on to win a couple more Super Bowls over the next decade.
I'm just saying. The 2000-01 Ravens were better than any Pats team...
....Matt Stover for franchise player, honestly, who the hell voted for that?

And Biggie's killer is still at large. And the guy who broke in and murdered Nicole Kidman and Ron Goldman is probably playing golf somewhere right now. And George W. H. Bush never got impeached for his crimes against humanity.
