Selling back books

Posted: May 14 2004, 01:43 PM
I'm about to go get raped by the bookstore.. Isnt it fucked that you pay $100+ for a book then they tell you they will buy it back for $25?.... and somtimes they change the book for the class and wont buy it back at all. Maybe we'll have to setup some kinda book trading program on collegeslackers because i'm way too lazy to put all my books up on half.com.

I agree Chain. Yeah, I'll probably get like $50 bucks back this semester. But I'm sure they'll say I can't sell it back because they won't use it next year. Stupid people.

I spent close to 700 bucks on books last semester and i got 39 back. A CD that was never used was missing so they didn't take back that and the rest was outdated or they weren't going to use the same edition. Like the editions are really that different.

That wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yes, I got ripped off hard last semester. 100 dollars for A 2/D Design book, and I got a whopping $6 dollars back. Awesome, it paid for lunch. sad.gif

For some reason, every time I get to the bookstore to take back books, I always end up with the same old guy who is always fucking grumpy. And then he inevitably chooses the book that I want to keep the least (last quarter it was an economics textbook) and tells me that he "cant take that one back". And then the ones that I do trade in only get like 5% of their original value back. Its like, "Well, you payed 200 bucks total, and your refund comes to: 12 dollars". Assholes.

We got this website here in Tampa for USF where kids can buy and sell their books directly to other students. It worked for me for about 2 semesters when I was taking the very basic general classes, like English, American government, College algebra, you know, the classes that pretty much everybody takes. But now that I am into my advanced classes, I haven't had any luck with it. But alot of my professors now are using electronic copies reserved through our libraries for our books. Before a teacher might make you buy a $30 book just for a few articles they wanted, now they just get the copyright to distribute them electronically to us. Saves alot of money, I only spent $120 this semester, where two years ago I was spending usually about $300.
