Iran is talking about attacking us or Israel. Really an intelligent move. I can promise you that if Iran attacks our troops in the Middle East with WMD's, I will enlist in the Marines the next day.
Iran wants war
so lets give it to them

Thats why we should have went after Iran long before we went after Iraq. Iran has funded terrorists, they have attacked us, they have given aid to terrorists since 9/11. I don't think they'll attack us, though. They would have to know that they would be destroyed.

I agree that Iran was the bigger threat, so was N. Korea. But I don't think the people of America are ready to lose 10,000 men in doing so. Until another muslin country actually attacks us, we won't invade someone again.
I wonder how Russia will come into play during all of this, especially because they got most of their nuclear generators from Russia for "minig uranium as a source of energy."

I don't know that much about Iran. Why do you think we would lose 10,000 men fighting them? (Or was that in reference to N. Korea)
We just need to turn that entire region into a giant glass parking lot
Personally what Iran said is no different then a gorilla banging it's chest. They are just trying to put fear into us. If we had to go after Iran it would be no different then it is in Iraq right now. We'd kick their ass then have to play the counter guerilla warfare. The only thing I worry about is what they have. We have no clue if they have any WMDs. That is something we should all hope they do not have.

By the time we ever went to war with Iran or N. Korea, they would be nuclear capable. They would use those weapons in the event of a war against America. Both countries already pocess chemical and biological weapons. After the Iran/Iraq war, Iran went into a rapid modernization of its military, including the deterrent weapon, chemical and biological weapons. There are dozens of countries that have chemical and biological. They are seen as a cheap deterrent to nuclear weapons. The problem that I see in the Middle East is the Israel is trigger happy, and rightfully so. In 1981, they did the right thing and took out Saddam's nuclear weapons reactor. They have been jointly attacked on several occasions, and they are surrounded by the most hostile nations on the earth. Israel will not hesistate again to take out Iran's facilities if they think they are a threat to Israel. And if they do attack Iran, Iran will go after them. But they can't get there without going through America in Iraq. And we are not going to let them use Iraq. I see a war with them so much more likely than a war with N. Korea. With North Korea, there is a joint attempt to control them. Russia, China, and Japan all have a joint interest in keeping N. Korea down. They don't want to be held as nuclear hostages from Korea. Thats the difference between the two, nobody is really putting the pressure on Iran, where N. Korea is facing much more regional pressure. But I stand by the fact that I think we would lose 5,000-10,000 men if we invaded and fought Iran. They are much more advanced now then Iraq and would not hesistate, to use whatever weapons they have available.

We could potentially lose that many people, but I think it's unlikely. I don't think Iran right now is any stronger than Iraq was in 1991 (which definitely had chemical and biological weapons at the time), and our armed forces didn't seem to have much trouble manhandling Iraq. Even if Iran were to become nuclear-capable, I seriously doubt they'd want to start a nuclear war with us. Surely they must know that doing so would be the functional equivalent of attacking an M1 tank with a slingshot. We could turn that entire region into trinitite if we wanted to. If Iran were to use a nuclear bomb against our soldiers, Iran would simply cease to exist within a matter of hours.
I agree, Iran is a horrible nation and you are right Israel is and has always been trigger happy. But I worry more about Iran taunting the attack so they have a justified reason to bomb Israel, they have been looking for a reason for years and it seems Israel is putting it in their laps.

I remember though, in 1991, when the same stuff was said about Iraq. Not saying it isn't true. Like I said I don't have much knowledge of Iran, but before Desert Storm, everyone was talking about Saddam's chemical weapons, the "elite" Republican Guard, and the Scud missles. There was also a lot of talk that our allies would turn on us, and that this would be world war 3.

The problem with using nuclear weapons against your enemy is that all you really need is one bomb. Even if we got into a pissing contest with them, especially with all the nuclear weapons on the blackmarket (including the dreaded "suitcase bomb," all they would really need is to bring one to America to really fuck us.
Obviously ultimatly we would win the pissing contest, but all they need is one to really destroy a nice part of our country/military.
The idea of nuclear war scares me pesonally...thats the last thing this WORLD needs is any country using nuclear weapons. The idea of chemical weapons scares me even more because I dont want to see american service men and women defending my ass to be killed in such a way.
Iran pisses me off...but I wonder how desperate they are? They saw what happened to gold old saddam and I wonder how scared they are? And if they are really that scared how desperate they are? (I think really desperate). If we went to war with Iran, we would have to worry about over there and over here more so they we do with Iraq. And then I wonder about N. Korea because Lil Kim seems a little off his rocker (ok the guy is nuts...he told his people he is a god and they really really really believe it). So I wonder what his crazy ass would do?
Blah screw Iran...we really need to worry abour Iraq and make sure they are able to lead them selves...and hope they are just talking to hear them selves talk. But we should keep a eye on them and the minute they seem like they will and or plan to attack us at any front we neutralize the threat ASAP

During the war in Iraq last year I THINK it was Iran who had to literally hold it's people back from crossing the border and aiding the Iraqis.
So apparently their thurst for war with us went back to last year with the invasion of Iraq. Add that to the fact that they have been proliferating nuclear weapons for some time, and I think we have something to worry about.

I doubt Iran wants to use nukes any more than any other country. Regardless of their policies and beliefs, I think (hope) that nukes are mostly about who has the biggest cock. Everyone wants them, as tool to be taken seriously, but I doubt that they will use them. It just doesn't make sense strategically, or for their own well being.

As far as Iran helping Iraq, unless I missed something in middle east history (which is quite possible so I'm not being sarcastic) I don't think Iran and Iraq are allies. Not sure what happened since their war, but I don't think they like Iraq much more than they like us.

All I'm saying is that having nuclear capabilities is a wildcard you can play in a war. ESPECIALLY against the strongest military in the world the US. There is no way that Iran would stand toe to toe with us, therefore it leads me to believe they would use some sort of WMD against us to level the playing field.
It doesn't make sense for their own well being to way to cause a war with the US, god forbid that ever did happen, I think it would only make sense for them to try and do something to level the playing field. Weather it be a terrorist attack or a military strike using a WMD.

they have to make a nuclear weapon before they can proliferate them

Not neccessarily, you can proliferate by many ways such as legally buying them (Russia), building them, or purchases on the black market.
They have the uranium mines (thanks to the good old Russians) so who knows what they might have.
EDIT: After re-reading a paper that I wrote on Nuclear Proliferation last year, in addition to supplies from the Russians, Iran had hired a lot of scientist who worked for the Soviet Union after it's collapse in the late 80's/early 90's. Also it has been reported the iran might have been buying/selling nuclear parts to Lybia who was intereesting in proliferating.
